Apple releases the “Apple China Corporate Responsibility Report” for 2022-2023.

In July 2023, Apple released the “Apple China Corporate Responsibility Report” for 2022-2023. It provides detailed information on the progress and commitments of Apple’s community giving programs, as well as the latest developments in support of education, donations, and volunteer projects. It is one of Apple’s rural revitalization projects through disaster relief donations to the Rural Development Foundation. It is a “business school” for rural areas and the first educational training institution in China that aims to cultivate chairmen of farmer cooperatives. Since its establishment in 2021, more than 2,300 rural chairmen from all over the country have come here to learn new skills including quality control, financial management, team building, and e-commerce, and have become “new farmers” adapting to the development of the times.

What can be seen is that Apple’s understanding of rural revitalization is to use the power of education to empower rural revitalization talents, to support their continuous growth and development in a more effective and sustainable way, and to drive more rural households to increase income and become prosperous through these talents. At the Mongdingshan College, I also had the opportunity to communicate with the chairmen of two cooperatives and learn about the changes that education has brought to them.

Wang Qing from Xuan’en County, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province, participated in the training at Mongdingshan in 2020. Afterwards, he combined the skills he learned with his own environment, and finally made significant improvements in the hardware equipment, financial management, modern scientific planting, and marketing of the cooperative.

Through standardized and standardized planting, the pomelo planted by Wang Qing’s cooperative won the “Gold Award” at the 2021 Xuan’en County Gongshui Pomelo Culture Festival Pomelo Evaluation Conference. In the process of continuous learning and communication, Wang Qing also discovered that only high-quality products can go far and last long, and sustainable high-quality development must take the green road. Therefore, the cooperative where Wang Qing is located applied for a green certification of 3,000 mu in 2022, which has now passed the review. The cooperative will be able to obtain the certification certificate in 2023.

Another person, Chen Xiaolong from Xuanhan County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, participated in the online training of Mongdingshan College in 2022 and visited excellent cooperatives. He applied the knowledge of system construction, team cultivation, production control, and financial management that he learned to promote scientific planting and adjust sales strategies in the cooperative. The quality of the fruit, the average customer spending, and the number of repeat customers have all improved significantly.

It is worth mentioning that inspired by studying at Mengdingshan College, Chen Xiaolong has also created his own live streaming team, allowing people with limited mobility to sell local products to local residents through live streaming on the internet, realizing their own value. In Chen Xiaolong’s view, being rich is not enough, it is more important to help the local people around him to achieve common prosperity. “I hope to be a ‘firefly’, illuminating myself and others,” Chen Xiaolong said at the end.
