NIO has released the V2G 20kW charging pile, which supports reverse charging to the power grid

【phoneauto News】On July 20th, at the NIO Power Day 2023 conference, the NIO 20kW V2G charging station was officially released. At the same time, NIO announced that the battery swap and automatic parking function will be accelerated, and the battery will be flexibly upgraded to a daily rental service.

The new 20kW V2G charging station not only has fast charging function but also adds discharging function, which can achieve interaction between vehicles and the power grid, allowing electric vehicles to absorb energy from the grid when the grid load is low, and release energy when the grid load is high. Users can choose the lower-priced home charging station to charge their vehicles and sell excess electricity to the grid through the V2G charging station to obtain income. For the power grid, the use of V2G charging stations can use electric vehicles as energy storage devices to regulate load, improve grid efficiency and reliability, and reduce investment in energy storage construction.

The NIO battery swap and automatic parking function will be accelerated. In the third quarter of this year, the function of parking at the charging station (third-generation charging station) will be launched, and the speed of battery swap will be increased by 40%. The speed of the second-generation station will be the same as the third-generation station. In the fourth quarter, the function of uninterrupted power during battery swap will be launched, and it will also support air conditioning ventilation function.

In addition, the battery will be flexibly upgraded to a daily rental service, supporting remote battery swap. The flexible upgrade of the battery to a daily rental service is now available nationwide, and the 150kWh battery will also support flexible upgrades in the future. Standard range battery pack users can flexibly upgrade to a long-range battery pack as needed, and users can choose from three flexible battery upgrade plans: daily, monthly, and yearly. The rental fee for upgrading from a standard range battery pack (70/75kWh) to a long-range battery pack (100kWh) is 50 yuan per day, 880 yuan per month (31 days), and 9,800 yuan per year (366 days). It is worth mentioning that users with a 60% upgrade privilege can also use this service.
