Elon Musk hints at the pricing of Tesla Cybertruck, suggesting that it will likely sell like hotcakes at this price

Elon Musk suggests the Tesla Cybertruck will sell well at its price

【Phoneauto News】Elon Musk may have made a subtle hint about the pricing of the Tesla Cybertruck, saying that its most likely competitor, the Ford F-150 Lightning, is “a bit expensive.” Just a few hours ago, the price of the Ford F-150 Lightning was reduced by $10,000 (about 71,700 yuan).

The first Cybertruck was produced at the Texas Gigafactory last weekend, indicating that this all-electric pickup truck, which was launched at the end of 2019, is about to be delivered to customers for the first time.

However, many details are still unclear, especially the configuration options and pricing.

When the Cybertruck was first unveiled and available for pre-order, Tesla listed three configurations: the Single Motor version, Dual Motor version, and Tri Motor version, priced at $39,990 (about 286,700 yuan), $49,990 (about 358,400 yuan), and $69,990 (about 501,700 yuan) respectively.

Tesla officially announced the first Cybertruck production

However, Tesla eventually removed these prices from the company’s website and stated that the Quad Motor version of the Cybertruck will be the first car produced at the Texas Gigafactory. However, Tesla has never confirmed this, and given Tesla’s ever-changing plans for its vehicles, this situation may have already changed.

The pricing and other details of the Cybertruck are expected to be announced this quarter, as the first Cybertruck has been produced and delivery is imminent.

After Ford announced today that it would lower the price of the F-150 Lightning due to production expansion and cost reduction, Musk expressed his own views. Ford reduced the price by nearly $10,000 on some models, but Musk still thinks it’s a bit expensive, which suggests that the price of the Cybertruck may be lower than even the cheapest Pro version of the F-150 Lightning, which currently starts at $49,995 (about 358,400 yuan).

“The Ford Lightning is a good car,” Musk said, “just a bit expensive, especially considering the high interest rates on any type of loan nowadays.”

There are rumors that Tesla will completely abandon the single-motor version of the Cybertruck priced at $39,990, and instead base it on a dual-motor power system.

If Musk’s comments on the F-150 Lightning can explain the pricing of the Cybertruck, then the price of this all-electric pickup truck may be lower than Ford’s truck priced at $49,995.
