Porsche's first charging lounge is now open exclusively for Porsche owners, open all day
【Phoneauto News】According to reports, Porsche has opened the world’s first brand fast charging station under the name of Porsche Charging Lounge.
The pilot station is located on the outskirts of Bingen, southwest Germany, near busy routes with heavy traffic. It is open 24 hours a day and is the first of several fast charging stations planned by the company on Europe’s most important routes.
Similar to the Audi Charging Center, the Porsche pilot station provides six 300kW DC fast charging points and four 22kW AC charging points, which are said to provide a high-quality charging experience, a comfortable atmosphere, and convenient centralized billing for charging fees.

These chargers are manufactured by Alpitronic, an electronics expert from South Tyrol, and can supply power to all of Porsche’s electric and plug-in hybrid models. The maximum power of the fast charging station is currently 300kW, but it can be upgraded to provide higher charging speeds.
Porsche estimates that by early next year, the power delivered per charge should be able to reach 400kW. It is also worth noting that the electricity used during the charging process comes from certified renewable energy sources.
The Porsche Charging Lounge in Bingen features a unique design, with a roof supported by slender pillars that gives the appearance of floating. The lounge is glass from floor to ceiling, and the bright colors and lightweight wood provide a comfortable atmosphere.
The heating and air conditioning of the charging station are provided by a heat pump that does not use fossil fuels. Some of the required electricity is supplied by solar panels on the roof. The charging station has a digital building management system that optimizes power consumption, such as automatically dimming the lights when there are no guests.
In addition to the charging station, the Porsche charging lounge also provides modern rest areas, sanitary facilities, and a variety of soft drinks and snacks for visitors. Other facilities include analog and digital media, high-performance WiFi network, and smart rearview mirrors that encourage drivers to exercise or provide interactive Porsche content.
Consumers can pay with debit cards and credit cards, as well as Apple Pay or Google Pay. Porsche is responsible for central billing, and the current charging price is 33 euro cents (0.37 USD) per kilowatt-hour, which is the same as other fast charging stations in the Porsche network.
The Porsche charging lounge is integrated into the Porsche charging service and is displayed in the vehicle’s navigation system. Unlike the Audi charging center, which allows drivers of other brands of electric vehicles to use it, the Porsche charging lounge is only available to Porsche owners. Users can use the Porsche ID to access the charging station, which must be associated with the vehicle. If the license plate is stored in the Porsche ID, the automatic license plate recognition function will open the barrier.
Alternatively, customers can access the website and lounge using the Porsche charging card or the QR code in the MyPorsche application.
