Currently, Canon is the most familiar digital camera brand for most ordinary consumers. Many years ago, the memorable slogan “delighting you always” must have been deeply remembered by many people. According to statistics from Nikkei News, in 2021, Canon accounted for approximately 45.8% of the global digital camera (including SLR and mirrorless, etc.) market. In comparison, Canon’s competitors such as Sony (27%), Nikon (11.3%), Fujifilm (5.9%), and Panasonic (4.4%) all have a considerable gap with it.

At the same time, according to the information obtained by PhoneAuto, Canon expects global interchangeable lens camera sales to be around 5.5 to 6 million units in 2023. Among them, mirrorless cameras are expected to account for more than 70% of the market share. Canon also stated that they will continue to maintain their position as the first in the interchangeable lens camera market share, and strive to become the first in the mirrorless camera market share. In 2024, Canon may release their flagship mirrorless camera EOS R1.
