Huawei Mate60 series leaks summary! Appearance, specifications, and prices all in one place

Huawei Mate60 series leaks appearance, specifications, and prices summarized

【phoneauto】As we enter August, there has been a noticeable increase in leaks and rumors surrounding the Mate60 series, especially regarding its design similar to Apple’s “Dynamic Island.” Major bloggers are constantly releasing news about it. But first of all, it is important to clarify that Huawei’s actions are not copying, but rather there is already a similar design in their patent library.

As for why Huawei is using this design at this time, it is actually very easy to understand. The smartphone market is undoubtedly more demanding for Huawei, and after the restrictions on their core components, Huawei has significantly strengthened the innovation of each flagship generation, as seen with the previous satellite pass-through feature and Huawei Kunlun Glass.

This time, Huawei will start from the system level to enhance product attractiveness. It is estimated that Huawei’s “Dynamic Island” will have some innovative gameplay, and it may even be combined with gesture control, which is easy for Huawei to achieve. Of course, through the HarmonyOS 4 launch event that has already been held, we know that Huawei has adopted the “real-time window” function, which can be large or small and is very flexible. However, the Mate60 series has added a “pill” design, so it is not ruled out that Huawei may give it a different name.

In terms of appearance, the “Dynamic Island” of the Mate60 series is expected to have a relatively slender design. Blogger @ previously released a front rendering image of the Mate60 series, which has one difference compared to many previous concept images, namely that the “Dynamic Island” on top has clearly become longer, with the two cameras further apart. This design is not made out of thin air, but rather based on an unexpectedly leaked real image.

However, not all models of the Mate60 series may have this design. The standard version may not have the “Smart Island”, this information is also obtained from the rendering.

In addition to the “Smart Island” design, the rear module design of the Mate60 series has also attracted attention. According to the latest rendering released by the blogger mentioned above, the size of the rear module of the Mate60 series will be very large, even larger than the Mate50 series. This can also be seen from the recently exposed third-party phone cases for Huawei Mate60. It is worth mentioning that the phone case in the picture seems to have added an extra button, the function of which is unknown, located at the bottom right.

In addition, there are reports that Apple and Samsung will popularize titanium alloy frames this year, while domestic manufacturers will follow suit next year. Therefore, the Mate60 series is unlikely to use this new material.

The configuration of the Mate60 series will definitely be improved, but we all know about Huawei’s recent experiences, so the core components will not undergo major changes, such as the processor and 5G, which will most likely still use Qualcomm processors, expectedly Snapdragon 8+ or the second generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform. It is said that some models will use a small number of Huawei Kirin chips.

To make up for this, the Mate60 series will have significant improvements in communication networks. For example, the Huawei P60 series not only supports two-way Beidou satellite messages, but also has the Triple Smart Antenna + Smart Network + Smart Algorithm innovative technology, resulting in stronger signals. The Mate60 series will also adopt this configuration to improve network signals.

Next is the aspect of imaging. The Mate60 standard version will adopt a rear triple camera solution, expected to include a 50 million pixel IMX989 main camera and a 50 million pixel IMX758 ultra-wide-angle lens. The Pro model should have a quad camera solution, which may include a periscope lens with unknown specifications, but it is said to debut a new solution and adopt domestic technology. At the same time, the Mate60 series will also benefit from Huawei’s XMAGE, and may even use new technologies.

Regarding the imaging configuration of the Mate60 series, you can actually refer to the P60 series. It is understood that the P60 has a rear 48 million pixel super focusing main camera + 13 million pixel ultra-wide-angle + 12 million pixel periscope telephoto lens, supporting 100x zoom. The P60 Pro has a rear 48 million pixel super focusing main camera + 13 million pixel ultra-wide-angle + 48 million pixel super focusing night vision telephoto lens, supporting 200x zoom.

The same goes for battery life. The Huawei P60 series is equipped with a 4815mAh large battery, and the standard version supports 66W super wired fast charging; the Pro model supports 88W super wired fast charging. However, the P60 Art is equipped with a 5100mAh silicon-carbon negative electrode large-capacity battery, with improved battery capacity and durability. It is expected that some models of the Mate60 series will also be equipped with this type of battery, which may also be a point that Huawei focuses on promoting.

In terms of the screen, the Huawei Mate60 standard version may continue to adopt the direct screen flagship solution of Mate50, expected to be equipped with a 6.7-inch 1.5K resolution OLED ultra-narrow bezel direct screen, while the Pro model should have a quad-curve screen design.

In addition, the Mate60 series will come pre-installed with HarmonyOS 4.0. According to the recently held Huawei Developer Conference, HarmonyOS 4.0 brings four major upgrades, involving personalization, intelligence, fluency, and directly announced the live window function. However, Yu Chengdong said that HarmonyOS will have major version updates in the future, which may include content specifically prepared for new devices.

Actually, the overall improvement of the Mate60 series is still good, but the core processor is slightly regrettable. I don’t know to what extent Huawei can offset this disadvantage through technology.

According to foreign media reports, sources have revealed that telecom operators have asked their employees not to take leave on September 13 because there will be an important phone announcement that day. Therefore, some media predict that Apple may hold a new product launch event on September 13. There is also another possibility that Apple may make an official announcement on September 13 instead of holding a launch event.

According to earlier leaks, it seems that the Mate60 series launch event has been postponed, estimated to be between September 14th and October 14th, and the release of the iPhone 15 series is also likely to be delayed. Recently, He Gang revealed during a video conference with Huawei channel partners that there will be major news from Huawei after October. This may be related to the Mate60 series. In this case, the Mate60 series launch event seems to be postponed to October.

If Apple makes an official announcement on September 13, then the iPhone 15 series is likely to be released at the end of September. The Mate60 series may have to play catch-up.

Another aspect is the price. Compared to the widespread price leaks of the iPhone 15 series, there is still no exact information about the price of the Mate60 series. Previously, there were reports that the Mate60 series (should be the Pro model) 8GB+256GB version would be sold for 7499 yuan, but Huawei denied it. Referring to the Mate50 series, the standard version with 128GB is sold for 4999 yuan, and the Pro model with 256GB is sold for 6799 yuan. But the Mate60 series may no longer offer an 8GB+128GB version, so the starting price may reach 5000 yuan.

Last year, Yu Chengdong said that the Mate50 series was a battle of life and death, but Huawei also won. The upcoming Mate60 series may be a turning point for the entire Mate smartphone family. After solving the supply chain challenges, the localization level of the Mate50 series and Mate60 series is getting higher, which allows the subsequent Mate series models to be launched smoothly, which itself is a major highlight.
