Foreign media releases top ten electric cars for 2023, Tesla not selected

Foreign media Top 10 electric cars for 2023 announced, Tesla not included

【PhoneAuto News】Recently, Autotrader, the largest professional car website in the United States, released a new list to help customers who are interested in purchasing pure electric vehicles. The list includes ten of the best electric vehicles for 2023, all of which have high ratings. However, surprisingly, Tesla, the current global leader in new energy vehicles, did not have a single model on the list.

Tesla Model Y

The website’s editorial team selected ten models for the list, including the BMW i4, Ford F-150 Lightning, Genesis G80 electric version, Genesis GV60, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, Lucid Air, Nissan Ariya, Porsche Taycan, and Rivian R1T. If you carefully analyze the shortlisted vehicles, you will find that most of them are relatively new vehicles. The oldest on the list is the Porsche Taycan, which was launched in 2019, but it has never stopped improving and launching new derivative products. Most importantly, it has an 800V system, which can charge faster than many vehicles that operate on 400V voltage.

BMW i4

The reason why there is no Tesla on the list is that the American manufacturer has not launched a new car since bringing the Model Y in 2020. It was supposed to start selling the second-generation Roadster in 2021 and the Cybertruck in 2022, but both were eventually delayed.

Autotrader stated that it is difficult for them to evaluate any Tesla because the BEV manufacturer does not have an effective public relations department except in China. This means that it also does not have a news team. Anyone who wants to evaluate its cars must request that Tesla owners drive or rent the necessary vehicles. The team member said: “The Tesla Model series was considered but did not receive high enough scores within the editorial team, so it did not make the top 10.”

Kia EV6

The team stated that the E-GMP platform of Hyundai Kia Group has left a deep impression on them. Three models (Genesis GV60, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6) using this platform have entered the top ten, and all models equipped with 800V charging system, which gives them the same super-fast replenishment ability as Porsche Taycan. However, Autotrader did not disclose the complete scoring criteria, which may make some people doubt the fairness of their scoring.
