【Mobile China Morning Post】Apple has brought a sweet little update to the 10th generation iPad (cellular version) in the form of a press release; Canalys, a market research firm, has released its latest global mobile market report for Q3 of the 23rd year. It shows that Xiaomi smartphones continue to maintain a recovery growth trend driven by high-end and global advancements, steadily holding the global third position and reaching a new high since Q3 of the 21st year; Xiaomi 14 has started blind pre-orders, allowing consumers to have priority purchasing rights; BYD has released a performance forecast, expecting a net profit of 20.5 billion to 22.5 billion yuan attributable to shareholders of the listed company in the first three quarters of 2023.
On the evening of October 17th, Apple, in the form of a press release, brought a sweet little update to the 10th generation iPad (cellular version). The all-new 10th generation iPad (cellular version) not only supports SIM cards, but also provides support for eSIM, marking Apple’s first launch of an eSIM-supported iPad in China.
For Apple, bringing eSIM to the iPad 10 is more like a “trial”. Once eSIM can operate stably in China, it is believed that Apple will continue to expand the eSIM landscape in the future. By then, iPad Air, iPad Pro, and even iPhone product lines may be equipped with eSIM.

According to Canalys’ latest data, the global smartphone market experienced a slight 1% decline in the third quarter of 2023, with the rate of decline slowing down. Despite a year-on-year decline for Samsung, it still maintains its leading position with a 20% market share; Apple ranks second with a 17% market share. Xiaomi ranks third with a 14% market share, and its unit shipments are increasing year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter. OPPO (including OnePlus) ranks fourth with a 9% market share, thanks to its strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Transsion has entered the top five with a 9% market share and significant year-on-year growth. Outside of the top five, Huawei has made significant breakthroughs in the domestic market with the promotion of the new Mate series.

In the third quarter of 2023, BYD continued to maintain a strong sales momentum, with sales of new energy vehicles reaching a historical high, firmly holding the position of the world’s top seller of new energy vehicles. Despite intensified market competition, BYD has successfully maintained a sustained improvement in profitability by continuously enhancing its brand strength, leveraging scale advantages, and controlling the cost of the industrial chain.
At the same time, the mobile phone parts and assembly business has also benefited from factors such as increased market share of overseas major customers and the recovery of demand from Android customers, as well as the continued high-speed growth of new energy vehicles and new intelligent products.
