The Strongest Porsche Ever? Porsche Unveils Mission X, a Pure Electric Supercar Concept

Porsche unveils Mission X a pure electric supercar concept, potentially the strongest Porsche ever

【PhoneAuto News】As part of Porsche’s 75th anniversary and Le Mans 24th anniversary commemoration plan, Porsche has officially introduced its pure electric hypercar – Mission X concept car, which showcases Porsche’s latest technology in the field of electrification with a power-to-weight ratio of nearly 1:1.

The exterior design of Mission X is said to be inspired by Le Mans racing cars. The vehicle uses classic butterfly doors, just like the classic Porsche 917. But this is just one of the many highlights of the car’s radical design. The car also features a glass dome cockpit design and a carbon fiber skeleton for protection. Ultimately, the car’s styling is reminiscent of Porsche’s former dominance at the Le Mans circuit with the Porsche 917, but it is presented in a modern style.

In terms of size, the new car is about 4.5 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 1.2 meters high with a wheelbase of 2.73 meters. This size is slightly shorter than Porsche’s other hypercar, the 918 Spyder, but it is wider by 2 inches. However, the wheelbase of the two cars is the same. Although Mission X will use pure electric drive, Porsche will install the battery pack behind the seats, and the so-called “electronic core” layout aims to create the same handling feel as mid-engine cars.

Inside the vehicle, two bucket seats are painted in different colors to showcase Porsche’s driver-centric design philosophy, and are also equipped with six-point seat belts. The main driver’s side features a semi-circular steering wheel design, and we can also see designs such as a full LCD instrument panel and a streaming rear-view mirror. It is worth mentioning that there is a slot for an electronic stopwatch in front of the passenger seat, which can be used to display lap times, driver data, and other information during track or rally racing.

As for the powertrain, although the official has not specifically revealed the powertrain information of the car, Porsche said that the car will have a power-to-weight ratio close to 1:1. If we use Porsche’s previous supercar 918 Spyder as a benchmark, the car weighs 1768kg, which means that if Mission X is also around this weight, its horsepower will be as high as 1700KW, which is twice that of the 918 Spyder, but will make it the most powerful Porsche vehicle ever.
