BYD to launch 5 electric cars and 15-20 sales outlets in France

【PhoneAuto News】BYD’s overseas market is expanding further. Recently, PhoneAuto learned that BYD will launch 5 pure electric vehicles in the French market. The first batch of cars will be delivered to French dealers this month, and sales will begin soon after. BYD hopes to open 15 to 20 sales points with its partners in France by the end of this year.

BYD

Previously, there were reports that BYD was in talks with French authorities about the possibility of building a factory there. In response, BYD stated that it is currently assessing the feasibility of building a passenger car factory in Europe and looking for a suitable location. In addition, foreign media reported that Ford is in talks with BYD to discuss the sale of a German factory. However, Li Ke, BYD’s Executive Vice President, stated in an interview that the company is exploring the establishment of its own factory in Europe “rather than focusing on other companies’ facilities.” This suggests that BYD is more likely to build its own factory than take over Ford’s German factory. The launch of 5 electric vehicles by BYD in France may accelerate the landing of its factories in Europe.

It is reported that BYD plans to increase its sales in the European market to about 800,000 vehicles and achieve a market share of 10% by 2030, ranking among the top three electric vehicle brands in Europe. Currently, BYD’s sales in Europe include Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Spain, and Portugal. In addition, BYD has confirmed that the Yuan PLUS and Han EV models will be launched in Italy and Hungary this year, and other European countries will launch in 2024.

BYD’s first overseas passenger car factory, which is wholly owned, is located in Thailand with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. It was officially launched in March this year and is expected to start operating in 2024. In addition to Southeast Asia and Europe, BYD also plans to build factories in South America. Foreign media have reported many times that BYD will acquire the Ford factory in Brazil. Wang Chuanfu has also stated that in the future, localized production will be launched in Brazil to continue expanding the strategic layout in the Americas.
